This Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme focuses on key hormonal, gynaecological, metabolic, and neuropsychiatric conditions affecting women’s health, with particular emphasis on the perimenopausal transition. Topics include perimenopause, Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), metabolic changes in perimenopause, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in perimenopause, and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in perimenopause.

The programme aims to enhance healthcare professionals’ knowledge and clinical competence in recognising, assessing, diagnosing, and managing these conditions using current evidence-based approaches. Through focused discussions, clinical insights, and practical management strategies, participants will explore the physiological and hormonal changes of the perimenopausal transition and their effects on physical, metabolic, sexual, and mental health.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of the CME programme, participants should be able to:
Perimenopause: Recognise the clinical features of perimenopause and discuss evidence-based approaches to symptom assessment and management.
Metabolic changes in perimenopause: Describe the changes in body composition, insulin sensitivity, lipid profile, and cardiovascular risk that occur during the menopausal transition, and discuss appropriate screening, prevention, and management strategies.
PCOS in perimenopause: Explain how the presentation of PCOS evolves with age, recognise the diagnostic challenges in perimenopausal women, and discuss long-term management of reproductive, metabolic, and cardiometabolic risk.
Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause: Identify GSM symptoms, understand their impact on sexual function and urinary health, and evaluate appropriate hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options.
PMDD and ADHD in perimenopause: Recognise how hormonal fluctuation during perimenopause can unmask or worsen PMDD and ADHD symptoms, distinguish these from other mood, anxiety, and premenstrual disorders, and discuss current and emerging pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
Integrated care: Apply a holistic, individualised approach to women’s health that addresses physical, metabolic, psychological, emotional, and social well-being.
