Pharma Wellness International in association with the Barbados Worker’s Union and the Endocrine Centre is hosting a health and wellness conference entitled: “The Business of Health: The Impact of Wellness on NCDs Outcomes”.
Scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 10 October 2018 from 9am, the conference will review the results and effectiveness of the Pharma Wellness health intervention programme which involved 1500 persons across 40 companies in Barbados. The programme measured health biometrics – blood sugar, weight, HBA1C, blood pressure and other essential indices that represent Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol. In addition to measurement, members of the programme were counselled on and exposed to healthy eating, exercise and lifestyle changes with the goal of reducing their risk of disease by improving their baseline measurement e.g. reduction in weight or cholesterol. As a result of these reductions and improvements, companies benefitted from reduced insurance claims and rates which lead to overall savings and desired outcomes.
The conference will include presentations from several participating companies, health professionals and members who have benefitted from the programme. Health checks will also be available along with food samplings and other giveaways.
This event is open to all interested persons including medical professionals, business and insurance executives and interested members of the public. Registration is $50 ($25 for students) and will include lunch. More information can be found at hibiscushealthcaribbeanevents.eventbrite.com; hhccmeevents@gmail.com; 246-269-6183/ 253-9384.
