Hibiscus Health Caribbean Inc presents: Cancer in General Practice – An Update for GPs on Feb 20th, 2016 1230PM-630PM at the 3W’s Pavilion, UWI. This continuing medical event will feature guest speakers from the USA, both – Dr. Edward Kiggundu and Dr. Sophia Edwards-Bennett, both Radiation Oncologists who will be presenting on breast and colorectal cancer. Supported by local physicians Mr. Ian Lewis, General Surgeon; Chris Nicholls, Haematologist; Dr. Adrian Waterman, Pain Specialist among others, topics will cover issues and case studies in blood cancer, palliative care, after-care guidelines and general issues in the GP practice. Registration is BDS$150 for physicians and BDS$100 for Allied Health Professionals. About the Guest Speakers:
Dr. Edward Kiggundu joined 21st Century Oncology in the summer of 2004. He is currently serving as Medical Director at the Katin Radiation Therapy Center and is a staff member at the VA Hospital in Martinsburg. A Board Certified Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Kiggundu is a member of the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the American College of Radiation Oncology. He is actively involved in clinical research, and has co-authored publications pertaining to breast, gynecologic and hematologic cancers.
Dr. Sophia Edwards-Bennett (known by her patients as Dr. EB) is board certified in Radiation Oncology. She is passionate about patient care and believes that every patient is special and unique. Her philosophy is that when patients, their spouses and family members entrust their lives into her hands, she should summon all her zeal, knowledge and expertise to unreservedly render the best care to all her patients. She has authored
multiple articles; is co-chair of the SCCA Breast Committee, and serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of SCMA, the South Carolina Cancer Control Advisory Committee (CCAC) and the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Membership Committee.
