The Barbados Diabetes Foundation Presents:
Exploring Wound Care – A Multidisciplinary Perspective – Acute Wound Management
Thursday, 17 March 2015, 530PM-9.00PM
Diabetes Centre, Warrens, St. Michael
The growing prevalence and incidence of non-healing acute and chronic wounds is a worrying concern. A major challenge is the lack of united services aimed at addressing the complex needs of individuals with wounds. However, the WHO argues that interprofessional collaboration in education and practice is key to providing the best patient care, enhancing clinical and health-related outcomes and strengthening the health system.
Acute wound management varies based on the wound location and characteristics. No single approach can be applied to all wounds; however, a systematic approach to acute wound care integrated with current best practices provides the framework for exceptional wound management.
This short CME is designed to highlight the importance of the multidisciplinary team in wound care with perspectives from the Surgeon, Wound Care Nurse and Podiatrist. A series of case studies along with best practices for standards of care will be presented and participants are to expect an evening of interactive discussion and useful take-home tools to tackle the various challenges in wound care.
CME Credit will be awarded.
